Overview
The following short video is from the Construction Industry Training Board NI and outlines the wide range of careers in the Built Environment.
This one year course is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in Construction but who have not met the entry requirements for a Level 2 course.
The course consists of theory and practical lessons including Introduction to the Construction Industry, Health & Safety, bricklaying, plumbing and joinery modules.
In addition the course will cover Essential Skills in Numeracy and Literacy (if required).
Students must be at least 16 years of age on or before 1 July 2023.
Students must be well-motivated and have completed a programme of general education to Key Stage 4 which would enable them to benefit from and succeed on the course.
Non-native speakers must provide evidence of competency in English Language.
Assessment is by a combination of practical assignments and written theory classes.
Careers
Students could progress to a variety of Level 2 courses including brickwork, site carpentry or plumbing.
