Graduation Thank You

We were thrilled to congratulate all of our students who graduated in three magnificent ceremonies at the Titanic Belfast Building on Wednesday 13th November. There was a fantastic buzz on the Campus as students mingled after the ceremonies and proud parents had the opportunity to enjoy the day.

We just want to take this opportunity to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone involved in making Graduation such a success!! Team work is what it’s all about and everyone worked together superbly to ensure everything ran smoothly. Well done to everyone and thanks again for all the hard work and effort put in on the day.

Staff Graduation Celebrations

We are thrilled to congratulate some staff members who graduated too. Gerard McEvoy and Chris Rice were joined by their families and friends to attend the graduation ceremony and celebrate their success.

Well done to our Human Resources Assistant – Gerard who graduated with a CIPD Diploma in Human Resource Management and our Music Technician Chris who graduated with a HND in Music.

Another huge congratulations needs to go to two of our lecturers from our School of Business, Management and Finance - Dr Andrea Cooper and Mr Kevin McKeaveney, who have been awarded Honorary Lectureships from one of our partner universities. The franchise arrangement between Belfast Met and the University of Dundee in the delivery of the BAPD Leadership and Management programme has now been in place for 15 years, with a significant increase in student numbers within this academic year. Praised for their strong delivery of the programme and continual positive feedback from students, they were each awarded with an Honorary Lectureship on behalf of the School of Education, Social Work and Community Education within the College of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Dundee. Congratulations to Andrea and Kevin.

Skills Show at Worldskills UK 2013

WorldskillsCongratulations to our Belfast Met staff and of course the stars of the show, our wonderful students at their recent success at the Skills Show at Worldskills UK in Birmingham.

Competing against the UK’s most talented apprentices and learners at this level requires hard work, determination and a high level of skill. The commitment shown from both our staff and students in the lead up to the competition was extraordinary and all whilst carrying out normal timetabled activities.

All the hard work and hours of practice have resulted in such great success for all, a Gold for Ian Magee in Plastering and Dry Wall Systems, Bronze for The Lipstik Lizards in Popular Music and Highly Commended for Giovanni (Arnie) Rodia in Hairdressing.

This year we had the extra benefit of our extremely talented students showcasing skills from different areas of the College such as Music Technology and Performing Arts who were then able to cheer on the competitors, try their hand at different skills and receive the latest information on Apprenticeships and other training opportunities to take back and inspire their fellow classmates to have the ambition to compete next year.

Congratulations!!
