With men putting almost as much effort into their appearances as women these days, the demand for skilled barbers to cut and style hair is increasing. This is a one year part time course which takes place 1 day per week, you will cover a wide range of areas related to the skills and knowledge required for working in the Barbering industry. You will learn advanced barbering skills including, advanced cutting, advanced cutting facial hair, shaving and face massage. You will train in the College’s state-of-the-art fully equipped commercial salons where your clients will include members of the public for development and assessment purposes. There are 5 units to complete and within each unit you will be required to complete a number of practical assessments as well as an assignment.

Career Opportunities / Progression

Employment in a commercial high street barber shop or salon, self-employment or working for a product manager. Progression to Level 4 qualification.

All fees are set in accordance with DfE regulations.

Other Information

You will be required to buy a Belfast Met uniform, costing approx. £40, and barbering kit costing approx. £160 (if needed). Specific details will be given at pre-entry advice and guidance sessions.
