This is a two year, nationally recognised qualification which covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the business sector.  It is designed for you if:

You are already employed in, or wish to further your career in business or commerce.  You are technically qualified and now find yourself in a management or supervisory position and need to acquire business and management related knowledge and skills.  You wish to progress to higher education courses at Level 5 and above.

During year 1 you will complete the following modules:

  • Business and the Business Environment
  • Managing a Successful Business Project
  • Financial Accounting
  • Management and Operations



Career Opportunities / Progression

Opportunities exist to progress on completion of HNC, both within BMC and with other education providers, to for example:
• A BSc (Hons)in Business (Part-time),
• A professional qualification such as Accounting Technicians in Ireland, ACCA, Chartered Institute of Marketing, Chartered Management Institute, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must possess one of the following:
• One GCE/VCE A Level plus 4 GCSEs at grades A - C (including English Language and Maths);
• A BTEC National Diploma/Certificate/Award;
• A GNVQ Advanced Award;
• An Access Award;
• An Irish Leaving Certificate with at least two Higher Level passes;

• Other qualification's deemed by the College to be equivalent. Applicants who do not have the specified minimum qualifications will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate, by virtue of experience and/or other studies, that they are capable of coping with the demands of the course.

Fees relate to year 1 of a 2 year course.
