The Events sector is a vibrant segment in the UK and NI economies and one which makes a significant contribution to job creation. It has been identified as a priority area by Tourism NI. 

This two-year programme, validated by Ulster University, is ideal for those who seek a career in organisations such as hotels, charities, event organisers or the fashion industry.  In order to complete the course, you will complete 12 modules over two years to include:

• Professional & Personal Development
• Enterprise Awareness
• Events operations
• Marketing for Events
• Introduction to Finance & accounts

You will also study some specialised modules to include:

• Global & Cultural events
• Corporate Events
• Legal Issues for Events
• Leadership and People Management

Assessment is by combination of assignments, examinations and organisation of events as well as a project undertaken during work-based learning. The work placement is undertaken in the final semester of the course which enables students to stay on within the industry, with the possibility of gaining full-time employment.

This programme of study is likely to include additional enrichment activities/module(s) which are included to enhance your employability.

Career Opportunities / Progression

Students who complete the course may proceed to the final year of the honours degree in many universities. Ulster University will accept students onto the final year of the Leisure and Events Management degree after undertaking additional bridging modules. Alternatively, since this programme has been designed to meet the demands of a major employment growth area, you will be able to pursue a career in the events industry.

Entry Requirements

Please refer to the College’s admissions criteria which can be found here. Please note the minimum tariff accepted for this course in the previous academic year was 72 UCAS points. Applicants should also hold a grade C in English & Maths at GCSE or equivalent.
