ESF College Connect and Skills for Industry

Belfast Metropolitan College is delighted to offer 2 new exciting projects, Skills for Industry and College Connect.

Both projects have been developed to increase skills levels amongst young people and promote economic activity in Belfast, in line with the Programme for Government.

The programmes have secured funding from Department for Economy FE and under the second call of the NI European Social Fund Programme.

The programmes will address key challenges facing the city including
• Improving employability skills within the working age population
• Increasing skill levels
• Addressing barriers to employment
• Matching people and skills to current and potential opportunities across Belfast and the wider region
• Reducing poverty and economic inactivity in the city

College Connect

Belfast Metropolitan College, in partnership with five Northern Ireland Further Education Colleges, will deliver the College Connect programme. College Connect targets young people aged 16-24 across NI and will be operational during 2018-2022. During this period Belfast Met will through the College Connect programme help young people via supporting their integration into further education and employment within the Hospitality sector.

College Connect will provide a bridge into level 2 provision and further apprenticeship opportunities. Delivery will be underpinned by a comprehensive ‘wrap around’ support network provided by 2 mentors.

This project will focus on developing hospitality and employability skills.
