What course did you study at Belfast Met?
I studied Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Business.
What did you enjoy most about your course?
I enjoyed the greater level of freedom than I had in school which allowed me to explore other things and work alongside my course to better prepare me for uni and work. I enjoyed accounting and business economics.
Where did you progress to and what role are you in now?
I went on to Queens University Belfast to study BSc Business Economics. I gained internships with Morgan Stanley in New York, Davy in Dublin, Macquarie Capital in London and Cordovan in Belfast. I have worked for Altero Captial in London and am currently in a private equity investor for IAG Silverstripe investing in financial services and green financing. We are one of the most successful investors in the world and have invested £7bn in the last decade.
What would you recommend about Belfast Met?
Belfast Met give me the freedom to focus on things beyond my education which fast tracked my knowledge of my chosen industry. It confirmed m interest in business and finance and taught me the basics of accounting and economics. Perhaps most importantly, the volume of assignments prepared me for university
