Textile production and manufacturing skills result in new product development for TrimBib

Trim Bib 600Px

TrimBib design and sell garments that fasten around the neck whilst trimming a beard to catch hair. The company designed and developed an initial prototype to test the market demand. Within a short period of time the company sold out with demand for more. The company contacted Belfast Met to discuss ideas for further models of the product that included a design that collects hairs within the bib that can be emptied into a small bin with ease.

The company were keen to gain and embed the skills to be able to complete trial and error prototypes to get the shape, structure and functionality that was envisaged. A 30 hour InnovateUs project provided them with the opportunity to work with Lorna Reid-Mullen to develop skills around sewing techniques, material stitching, pattern development and textile structuring.

The project was a great success. TrimBib is now manufacturing the prototype using a manufacturer in Pakistan. Sales have increased and the company has been able to develop new customers in NI, ROI and GB. The company is developing their marketing collateral through improved branding, packaging and developing gift sets to encourage and increase sales further.

"The project has allowed us to develop our new product and approach a manufacturer which has meant that it has been invaluable.  I feel that it has been great value for money.  We would not be in the position we are now without having undertaken the project."
