Simon Conlon - Support Worker, Inclusive Learning

Stephen Conlon

Stephen Conlon supports a wide range of students at the college, including those on FE, HE and TFS programmes. His main work centres on supporting the individual needs of students who are assessed by the Inclusive Learning team.  One moment Stephen could be offering 1-1 study skills advice to a HND student and the next, taking notes in a Level 2 Bakery theory class. Stephen recently became a certified Text Help Trainer so that he can deliver training sessions on the use of Read and Write Gold.  Stephen has a love of the English language having studied both English and French at Queens University. He gets great pleasure out of integrating his love of books into his support sessions.

Stephen also spends his summer supporting foreign language students in boarding school environments. In his free time Stephen enjoys a spot of genealogical research and can be found in PRONI browsing their wide collection of historical documents.

Next year Stephen hopes to build on his IT knowledge by integrating technology into his support sessions and he is keen to use his recent training in JAWS software for students with a visual impairment.
