Ryan McVeigh: A passion for Tourism and future aspirations

Ryan
Ryan McVeigh, a previous Belfast Met student in Travel and Tourism shares his story on how we helped him to develop new skills and support him on his journey.

My study journey
I decided to study Travel and Tourism at Belfast met as I had an interest in the world and wanted to work within that industry. I decided that this course would be the best option to gain the right qualifications.

Learning new skills
My life has changed a lot since studying here. I have developed new skills and gained so much information from Belfast Met on the way. My lecturers have worked in the travel and tourism sector so are very knowledgeable.

USA study opportunity
My biggest achievement has been getting accepted on to a USA study visit during the last year of my course. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, it was cancelled, however, I'm extremely proud of my achievement. I have also enjoyed working through all my modules.

A future in Tourism
I have a lot of future goals and aspirations in the travel and tourism sector. Within the next 2 years, I want to work as a holiday rep and I also have aspirations to work in a travel agency as I enjoy looking at holidays. I think this would suit me as I think that I could find the best deals!
Words of advice
I would tell prospective students to go for it and study at Belfast Met, but just make sure you are 100% going to be committed to the course.

I have really enjoyed my travel and tourism course from start to finish and would highly recommend it. It is very interesting and the lectures are so helpful and are there for anything that you need.
