Why did you choose to study an apprenticeship?
"I’ve always been interested in hands-on work and creating things. An apprenticeship offered me that combination of earning while learning, gaining real-world experience and working towards a qualification at the same time."

How is Belfast Met helping on your apprenticeship journey?
"Belfast Met has been brilliant in supporting me throughout my apprenticeship. The tutors and technicians are always there to help and answer any questions. The workshops are well-equipped and the College provides a great balance between practical learning and theory."

How is your employer, Combined Facilities Management, helping you on your apprenticeship journey?
"Combined Facilities Management has been fantastic in giving me hands-on experience in a wide range of joinery jobs, from roofing repairs to fitting kitchens. They’ve provided me with guidance and mentorship. My mentors have been very supportive, always willing to let me get stuck into the work and trust that I'm capable."

What has been your biggest achievement to date regarding your apprenticeship?
"One of my biggest achievements so far was winning NI Housing Executive Apprentice of the Year 2025. It was the first time they were held and, not only was I the only female finalist, I was the only female apprentice in the whole room! It felt amazing to win. It was my employers that had put me forward for the award."

What do you believe are the advantages of undertaking an apprenticeship?
"There are so many benefits. You gain practical experience, industry connections and a recognised qualification all while earning a wage. You’re not just in a classroom; you’re out there learning skills that will set you up for a successful career."

What advice would you give to people considering an apprenticeship at Belfast Met?
"I’d say go for it! If you enjoy working with your hands and learning in a real-world environment, an apprenticeship is a fantastic option. Be willing to learn, work hard and take every opportunity to develop your skills. Belfast Met provides great support, and the experience you gain is invaluable for your future career."
