International students making visa applications from outside the UK
If a visa application is unsuccessful, the tuition fee a student has paid will be refunded to the student less £100 for administration costs only if the student processes a UKVI Administrative Review if the College requires this to be undertaken. The College will provide support to the student to complete the in-country Administrative Review. This will only be required if the College considers that the visa refusal is due to a mistake on the part of the UKVI. In all other circumstances an Administrative Review will not be required. The student must forward the decision letter from the UKVI within 7 days to the International Office in all circumstances. The tuition fee is not normally refunded for any other circumstances. If a visa is obtained, but the student decides not to study with Belfast Met College, the tuition fee will not be refunded.
International students making visa applications from inside the UK
Where students have applied for their visa, enrolled and started the course, and the visa application is unsuccessful, he/she does so at his/her own risk as no refund will be made. However, the student would be expected to appeal against the UKVI’s decision if the College considers this to be an appropriate course of action. The College may consider a full or partial refund of tuition fee to a student in some circumstances. The final decision will be made by the Finance Director.
International Students – Agents’ Commission
An Agent’s commission becomes payable once an international student has paid in full and is enrolled on a course. To have enrolled on a course means that the student either has a visa or, the student is in the UK and has applied for a visa. Full payment of the due commission will be paid to the Agent if the visa is subsequently refused. The student will not receive a refund in these circumstances.
