The guidance and counselling service aims to help
you with problems – indeed anything that is causing
you concern. You might want help to find the right
course for you, help to complete your course
successfully or help to move to a job or a higher
course of study.
We provide a student counselling service for people
with personal problems, great or small. We also
offer help, advice and guidance on such things as
career planning; financial matters (bursaries, loans,
benefits and support funds); coping with study;
university entrance; CVs; interviews and dealing
with difficulties you may have with parents, friends
or anything else.
It is perfectly normal to be unsure about what career
would suit you best. It may help you to use the
Adult Directions computerised guidance programme,
followed by a personal careers consultation. You can
also use our Career Planning Guide on the ‘My Belfastmet’
website.
Our strength is that we don’t just supply you with
information but we also help you look at it in terms of
your own needs, fears and expectations.
Career guidance is available to all students in the
Belfast Metropolitan College. Prospective students can
use it for guidance in relation to our courses and our
support services.
If you would like to discuss career options or have a short career assessment, contact the Guidance and Counselling team.
The service is professional, confidential and free. You
can make an appointment with Ann McArdle,
Careers Counselling Information Officer at Tel:
028 9026 5333, email: amcardle@belfastmet.ac.uk.
