Higher Level Apprenticeships
Higher Level Apprenticeships are designed to help those in work develop higher skill levels, awarding qualifications equivalent to the first stages of Higher Education (i.e. Level 4 or Level 5). They are aimed at anyone who has completed A Levels (or equivalent). Find out more about the Levels of Study.

As a work-based programme, a Higher Level Apprenticeship enables you to ‘earn while you learn’ and to gain an internationally recognised academic or professional qualification.
Accountancy Higher Level Apprenticeship
Belfast Met has launched this new initiative with our two-year Accountancy Higher Level Apprenticeship, leading to a Level 5 qualification, equivalent to a Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma.All Higher Level Apprenticeships include a combination of on- and off-the-job training. The off-the-job element is delivered by Belfast Met on a day-release basis for a two-year period. Blue chip Belfast accountancy firms providing on-the-job training include Goldblatt McGuigan, ASM Accountants and RSM McClure Watters.

Digital Marketing Higher Level Apprenticeship
Digital marketing and the use of social and digital media is a key part of business marketing and practice today. Businesses are looking for more digital marketing capability and capacity which is increasing the demand for skilled people in this sector. This Higher Level Apprenticeship in Digital Marketing is designed in consultation with key industry experts - Google, Incisive Media and McLaren.
The course recognises the rapid growth and changes occurring in the industry and provides apprentices with the skills and knowledge to apply in a business environment and within their job role. The two year Higher Level Apprenticeship is designed to equip apprentices with the ability to understand, utilise and develop the skills needed whilst working in social media and digital marketing for business purposes. It builds transferable skills in communication, team working and the ability to self reflect.

Computing Infrastructure Level Apprenticeship
This is a two-year, work-based programme which enables you to ‘earn while you learn’. You need to be employed over two years in a computing role while studying a minimum of one day a week at College. You will be studying for the Foundation Degree in Computing Infrastructure, validated by Ulster University. You will gain this qualification along with practical skills and relevant experience in the workplace which will open new career opportunities for you. The course has been designed to give you opportunities to demonstrate and develop the practical application of knowledge and understanding in Computing Infrastructure areas including analysis, design and networks. The course will provide you with a high quality, Ulster University validated qualification. It has been developed to address the needs of candidates seeking to progress their careers in the IT support industry, and to progress to higher education.
This qualification is linked closely to a candidate’s professional development and reflects the needs of employers. The course will be delivered over two full calendar years. Core modules include: Programming I & II, Computer Networks, Systems Development, Network Switching and Routing, and Advanced Networks. The award is offered through an apprenticeship, which is a new and attractive route to higher qualifications while working.
Software Engineering Higher Level Apprenticeship
This Higher Level Apprenticeship in Software Engineering is a two- year, work-based programme which enables you to ‘earn while you learn’. You need to be employed for over two years in a computing role while studying a minimum of one day a week at College. You will be studying for the Foundation Degree (FdEng) in Software Engineering, validated by Ulster University. You will gain this qualification along with practical skills and relevant work experience in the workplace which will open new career opportunities for you. The Foundation Degree in Software Engineering consists of a number of modules, including: Programming in JAVA and C#, Hardware and Operating Systems, Mathematics, Web Programming, and Database and Systems Development. The award is offered through an apprenticeship, which is a new and attractive route to higher qualifications while working.
