Ethiopia Project

We have attached some photos of Christmas in Ethiopia which is a project aimed at improving the lives and living conditions of the poorest most at risk and vulnerable.

This project has been supported by many here in the college since 2008 and to date we have established a free school in the slums of Addis Ababa.

A school in a rural area, a centre for the disabled, a project helping the elderly who live on the streets and we have provided a fresh water supply for the rural community.

Thank you to all at Belfast Met who continue to support us, we are making a difference for those less fortunate in the developing world.

Belfast City Marathon

John Mulhern, Lecturer in the School of Health, Sport and Leisure is trying to organise some Belfast Met Relay teams for the Belfast City Marathon in May in order to raise some money for the NI Children's Hospice. There has been a lot of interest from students however he is keen to get some staff teams together as well.

He will need between 2 - 5 people per team but preferably if we had to opportunity to get a few teams of 5 together with each member raising 100 pounds this could raise a substantial amount of sponsor money for the hospice.

Each team member will have to run, jog or walk a leg of the marathon with each leg being divided into:

6.2 miles

3.4 miles

7.1 miles

4.6 miles

4.9 miles

Entrance for the relay event is £90 per team, if anyone is interested please contact John at JMulhern@belfastmet.ac.uk

Please note that for people that are interested John will be running weekly training sessions leaving TQ Campus and heading up to Victoria Park.
