Entry Requirements:
|
Students must have GCSE Maths Grade A-C or equivalent AND one of the following:
- Four GCSE passes at Grades A-C (can include Maths); or First Diploma; or
- DiDA; or
- Equivalent or other relevant qualifications.
Preference may be given to applicants who hold an ICT based qualification, higher GCSE grades, GCSE English (or Equivalent).
In the event that the course is oversubscribed the BMC's tariff system for Academic Qualification will be applied.

Structure and Content:
|
The Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT (Software Development) is a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enable progression to higher education vocational qualifications.
The course has been developed in the areas of Software, Computing and IT Systems and focuses on education and training for future IT practitioners who wish to be employed in a variety of types of technical work, such as analysis and design, programming, web site management etc.
The course will be delivered in a modular format within two semesters per year.
The course consists of a number of units covering the areas of:
- Programming in a variety of languages including VB.Net and Java;
- Website design and management (Server and Client side);
- Computer Operating Systems and Hardware;
- Graphics and Animation;
- Business Systems,Systems Life Cycle and the work of a Systems Analyst.

Assessments will involve assignments, projects and class tests.

Employment Further study:
|
The Extended Diploma in IT Practitioners (Software Development) is for those who wish to pursue a career within commerce/industry in the area of Computing, Information Technology or Software Development. A successful completion of this course is equivalent to three A Levels, which will enable students to progress to Higher/Professional qualifications such as:
Foundation Degree courses in Software Engineering or Science and Imedia
Higher National Diploma courses in Computing or Multimedia.
