Title: Edexcel GCE in Applied ICT Double Award (Applied A' Level in ICT - equivalent to 2 A' Levels)
 
 
Level: 3
 
Entry Requirements:

Applicants must have:

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade A* - C (English desirable) or one of the following:

  • BTEC First Certificate/Certificate/Diploma; GNVQ ICT - (Merit);
  • Diploma in Digital Applications (DiDA);
  • Good written communication and ICT skills ; or
  • Equivalent qualifications or relevant experience.


 

 

Attendance: Two years.
 
Structure and Content:

You will complete 12 units over two years:  Six AS units in year one and six A2 units in year 2, resulting in two A Levels.

ICT Areas that will be undertaken in the programme:

  • Web Design;
  • Multimedia;
  • Database;
  • Speadsheet;
  • System Design and Installation;
  • Technical Support;
  • Programming;
  • Project Management; and
  • Communications and Networks.
 
Assessment:

A total of 12 units are completed, nine of which are assessed through the submission of an e-portfolio (coursework), created by completing projects.  Three units are assessed through examination - but again, these are project based exams.

Certification is awarded as two A level grades, ranging from AA to EE.
An AA grade is equivalent to 240 points.

 

 
Employment
Further study:

On successful completion of the course, students are ready for higher education at Foundation, Degree, or HND Level.  Students may enrol on the following courses at Belfast Metropolitan College:
