1 GCSE grade C, 3 GCSE  grade Ds or above including Maths and English plus interview or other qualification/s deemed by the College to be equivalent.

Applications from people who do not have the specified minimum qualifications will be assessed on the applicant's ability to demonstrate, by virtue of experience and/or other studies, that he/she is capable of coping with the demands of the course.

Where demand for places on the course exceeds the number of places available, it may be necessary to apply additional selection criteria beyond the minimum standard.  Information on selection criteria may be obtained from the Course Co-ordinator.

One year

Full-time or Pre-Apprentice (TFS).

This course will prepare you for careers as Junior PC technicians. This specialist training course introduces you to PC building and troubleshooting, computer networking, and information systems.  The course consists of a number of units covering the areas of:

• Providing Customer Support
• Maintaining Equipment and IT Systems
• Installing Hardware/Equipment and Systems
• Installing and Maintaining Applications and Systems Testing
• Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Windows XP (MCP Exam 70-271)
• Supporting Users and Troubleshooting Applications on Windows XP (MCP Exam 70-272)

The units will be assessed through assignments, projects and exams.

• Level 3 iPRO qualifications in Systems Support
• Other IT qualifications such as Applied ICT or Microsoft Certified Professional
• A potential IT career, for example as an IT Technician.
