Title: OCR Level 3 ICT Systems and Principles for IT Professionals (PROCOM) Level 3 Diploma (Castlereagh)

Entry Requirements:

Four GCSEs at grade C including Maths and English plus information session.

Applications from people who do not have the specified minimum qualifications will be assessed on the applicant's ability to demonstrate, by virtue of experience and/or other studies, that he/she is capable of coping with the demands of the course; or

Equivalent qualifications or relevant experience.

Attendance: Two years full-time.
 
Structure and Content:

The OCR Level 3 Certificate/Diploma for IT Professionals provides candidates with a high quality, industry-recognised award.  It has been developed to address the needs of candidates wanting to gain employment in the IT support industry.  This new qualification liks closely to a candidate's professional development and reflects the needs of employers.

The course will be delivered in a modular format over 2 years.

Six units for OCR Level 3 Certificate for IT Professionals and eight units for OCR Level 3 Diploma for IT Professionals.

This is an intensive introduction to multi-user, multi-tasking network operating systems.  Units include Microsoft certified exams on Windows 2003 Server, Windows XP and Windows 7 and other network operating systems.  Students will explore a variety of topics including installation procedures, security issues, back up procedures, remote access and software development requirements.

 
Assessment:

Assessments will involve written assignments, projects and online exams.

This is an A-level equivalent course which will help you gain access to university or directly into a career in IT support and management.
