This is a one year course suitable for anyone who wishes to pursue a career in the hospitality industry, it delivers the practical skills and knowledge you will need to work successfully across all areas of the food service industry, including bar and table service as well as Barista (coffee making) skills. Topics covered will include, Food Safety in Catering, Health and Safety in Catering and Hospitality, Applying Workplace Skills, Legislation in Food and Beverage Service, Menu Knowledge and Design, Food and Beverage Service Skills and Service of Hot Beverages. You will gain valuable hands-on experience in the College’s newly refurbished Linen Lounge training restaurant and through involvement in delivery of hospitality events to industry. With a focus on the development of practical skills, you will be assessed on a continuous basis within a realistic working environment as well as through developing a portfolio of evidence.
This programme of study is likely to include enrichment units which are an additional component to enhance your employability.

On successful completion, you may be able to progress to the Level 3 BTEC Diploma in Hospitality. While on course, many of our students find part-time employment in hotels, restaurants and licensed premises which greatly enhances the opportunity to secure full-time employment within the local vibrant and exciting hospitality industry.
Requirements are pre-defined by the College’s admission criteria. All applicants must attend a pre-entry guidance session. It is essential that you possess the commitment, enthusiasm and positive attitude required to succeed in this customer-facing industry.
Students are required to supply their own kit at the cost of approximately £50.00.
