First Year of 2 Year A Level Programme (Applications only)

This is a one-year full time programme with a minimum of three AS subjects studied and exams taken at the end of the year.

On successful completion of all three AS subjects you may progress to take the A2 course in those subjects. Students passing two subjects may progress but may lose full-time status. Subjects include (subject to change): Biology; Business studies; Chemistry; Economics; English literature; Film studies; Geography; Government and Politics; History; Digital Technology; Mathematics; Media studies; Physics; Religious Studies; Sociology.


You will be invited to a pre entry guidance session at which specific advice will be given.

You will not be required to make subject choices until you are called for an enrolment interview in late August at which stage further advice will be given, based on your qualifications profile.

This programme of study is likely to include enrichment units which are an additional component to enhance your employability.

Career Opportunities / Progression

Students may only progress to A2 in a subject if they have attained grade A*-E in the AS qualification of that subject. Students may only progress to Year Two if they have successfully completed two or more subjects at AS.

Please note that A2 students taking two subjects will be part-time and therefore liable to pay fees.

Entry Requirements

Applicants must be aged 16 or over on July 1st 2017 and must have at least 20 points at GCSE including 5 passes at grade C or above and the subject-specific requirements in the A Level Course Guide available on the Belfast Met website – www.belfastmet.ac.uk.
