This innovative course seeks to develop coaching and sports development excellence through the understanding of several key academic areas, professional and managerial knowledge and skills that are directly applicable to the coaching and sports development sectors. You have the added value of gaining coaching awards and relevant work experience in related fields throughout your studies. This two year full-time course covers a wide range of practical and theoretical modules such as Sports Coaching, Sports Development, The Sport and Leisure Industry, Nutrition for Sport, Fitness Testing, Work-based Experience, Analysis of Sports Performance, Exercise for Specific Groups, Training and Fitness, Sports Psychology, Lifestyle and Wellbeing and Small Research Project.
This programme of study is likely to include enrichment units which are an additional component to enhance your employability.
This programme is also delivered in part-time mode on our Castlereagh and Millfield Campuses.

Career Opportunities / Progression

Opportunities exist for employment in management or support positions in the sport, health, leisure and fitness industries. Alternatively you may progress to accelerated entry to degrees in sport, leisure and fitness, through many universities “Top-up” degrees.

Requirements are pre-defined by the College’s admissions criteria.

Please note the minimum tariff accepted for this course in the previous academic year was 80 tariff points (200 tariff points using old UCAS tariff points system).
