The Foundation Degree in iMedia validated by Ulster University, is designed to equip students with the vocational knowledge and skills necessary for progression to employment, as well as  offering a clearly defined progression route to university, in particular to the BSc Hons in Interactive Multimedia Design (completing the full-time honours programme in two further years of study) subject to meeting the articulation requirements of the programme.
The programme includes employer involvement with the curriculum development and delivery to ensure that the skills students acquire meet industry needs. Achieving this qualification in an expanding and evolving market includes working in the established fields of graphic and web design, web development programming, motion graphics, multimedia authoring and multimedia project management.
Multimedia technologies and techniques are now part of mainstream business, for example, through interactive websites, e-commerce, social network integration and search engine optimisation.  Students on the course will use a range of industry-standard software and web development languages. Course modules include: Digital Image Manipulation (Adobe Photoshop), Multimedia Authoring (Adobe Animate and Adobe Premier Pro), Web Authoring (HTML, CSS and PHP), Web Development (JavaScript), Dynamic Web Platform Management (Bootstrap and WordPress) and Project Management. The final module of the course is work-based learning through a placement which allows students to gain experience within the industry.
The course is delivered in a modular format over two semesters per year. Additional modules will also be provided to enhance employability and skill development at no cost.
Please note that students will be required to have access to the following once accepted on the course –
• Adobe Master Suite Software for access outside the college
• A suitable laptop or PC
• An external hard drive for saving and backing up college work

Career Opportunities / Progression

The aim of this course is to provide you with the vocational knowledge and skills necessary for progression to employment in the multimedia/interactive media industry. Skills acquired on the course can be applied to print and screen media making any graduate fit for the workplace as well as able to progress to year two of the BSc (Hons) in Interactive Multimedia Design. Additional costs for this course include an external USB hard drive £50.
