This fast track one year programme is designed for those whose career aspirations are oriented towards nursing or other health and social care professional roles and whose academic profile needs to be enhanced.

You will acquire the knowledge, skills and value based appropriate to health and social care.
Units will include:

Psychology for Health and Social Care
Health and Safety in the Health and Social Care Workplace
Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care
Communication in Health and Social Care Organisations
Principles of Health and Social Care Practice
Working in Partnership in Health and Social Care
Safeguarding in Health and Social Care
Developing Counselling Skills for Health and Social Care


You will be assessed primarily through coursework assignments and your practical work within the sector [minimum of 200 hours either as an employee or volunteer].

Entry Requirements

Applicants must:

Have evidence of competence in written and spoken English and Numeracy, equivalent to Level 2 certification in each subject of GCSE grade C;

Have attained at least 12 points at Level 2 or above (eg GCSE) or have alternative approved qualifications;

Applicants should have attained a minimum of 64 UCAS tariff points (160 UCAS points under old tariff points system) achieved through the completion of A Levels, National Awards, Access or other alternative approved qualification.

The College reserves the right to increase the entrance criteria for all higher education provision based on demand and required academic standards as specified by the awarding body/validating organisation.

You will be required to show evidence of current work or voluntary experience in health or social care at the commencement of the course.

Priority will be given to applicants who have exceeded the minimum entry requirements.
