This two year part time programme provides opportunity for students to develop their academic profile while working / volunteering in a health and social care setting, over a period of two years.

You will acquire the knowledge, skills and value based appropriate to work in Health or Care settings.

Units will include:

Psychology for Health and Social Care
Health and Safety in the Health and Social Care Workplace
Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care
Communication in Health and Social Care Organisations
Principles of Health and Social Care Practice
Working in Partnership in Health and Social Care
Safeguarding in Health and Social Care
Developing Counselling Skills for Health and Social Care

Assessment:

You will be assessed primarily through coursework assignments and your practical work within the sector [minimum of 200hrs over two year]

Entry Requirements

Applicants must:

Have evidence of competence in written and spoken English and Numeracy, equivalent to Level 2 certification in each subject of GCSE grade C;

Have attained at least 12 points at Level 2 or above (eg GCSE) or have alternative approved qualifications;

Have attained a pass in at least one GCE A level subject of equivalent Level 3 qualification. Applicants should have attained a minimum of 56 UCAS tariff points  (140 UCAS points under old tariff points system) achieved through the completion of A Levels, National Awards, Access or other alternative approved qualifications and / or experience.

The College reserves the right to increase the entrance criteria for all higher education provision based on demand and required academic standards as specified by the awarding body/validating organisation.

You will be required to show evidence of current work or voluntary experience in health or social care at the commencement of the course.

Priority will be given to applicants who have exceeded the minimum entry requirements.

Important Information

Former students are now working in Health and Social Services Trusts and in Voluntary Organisations in a range of roles.

You may be able to progress to a Degree in Social Work, Nursing or in other relevant vocational areas.
