This course is designed to develop knowledge and skills in the fields of manufacturing, mechanical or aeronautical engineering.  A combination of analytical and design perspectives in conjunction with a focus on manufacturing processes and techniques ensures the widest possible development of knowledge.

The first portion of the course focuses on fundamental engineering principles and analytical skills.  The units involved are common to all three pathways and hence differentiation only occurs after this portion of the course.

Learners will complete the HNC prior to commencing the HND.  This flexibility allows the learner to conclude their studies with the HNC if they wish or to progress on to HND.

Career Opportunities / Progression

This course provides the relevant qualifications for entry to the Higher National Diploma or a degree in Engineering.

Entry Requirements

One 'A' level pass in an appropriate subject area plus 4 GCSEs (100 UCAS points); or
BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in a related discipline; or
Level 3 Vocational Qualification or equivalent in a related area; or
Mature entrants with previousexperience may be considered through the Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)
Due to the nature of the programme, applicants will be required to have at least one qualification at A level or equivalent vocational qualification with significant mathematical or technical content.
