Level 3 Diploma in Learning & Development
The new updated Diploma in Learning and Development is aimed at individuals whose role involves (or in the future may involve) learning and development in organisations –eg identification of training needs, design, delivery and evaluation of training. It is also suitable for those working as independent trainers. It provides the required knowledge towards the new Associate Professional level of CIPD membership.
This course is a Level 3 foundation-level qualification and it comprises of 38 credits.
The course is delivered in a blended learning format. Blended learning is a combination of teaching, communication and support and allows learners to attend a mixture of taught classes and flexible learning activity through the programmed inclusion of drop in tutorial clinics and communication with tutors via email/skype/discussion boards.
The course tuition and blended learning activities will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed by today’s professionals to deliver planned L&D activities focusing on the importance of creating and maintaining a positive learning environment. It will also help you understand how L&D activities support an organisation’s strategy and assist the achievement of business objectives. This should ensure a very stimulating environment and give excellent opportunities for skills practice.

Becoming an Effective Learning and Development Practitioner
Learning and Development and the Organisation
Identifying Learning and Development Needs
Designing Learning and Development Activities
Delivering Learning and Development Activities
Supporting Collective and Social Learning
Supporting Individual Learning through Coaching and Mentoring
Evaluating Learning and Development Activities
You will complete written assignments and practical (skills) assessments, which will be supported by a written statement based on your learning and experiences.
To complete the course and benefit from CIPD professional and practical resources in study and work, you will be required to join the CIPD as a Student member. Student members pay a special subsidised joining fee which will be explained at the information session.
Career Opportunities / Progression
If you are interested in further study, you can study the Level 5 Diploma in Learning and Development. Alternatively you can choose to study individual specialist awards in Learning and Development eg Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Competence
There are no formal entry requirements but applicants must have a level of competence in written and spoken English. All applicants will be required to attend a pre-entry information session.
