The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is a knowledge and practice based introduction to teaching and/or training. Candidates who successfully complete this qualification will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners. They will be able to sequence learning, plan and deliver sessions, using appropriate resources and teaching methods. They will also be able to identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback.

Course units
Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training (3 credits).
Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training (6 credits)
Understanding assessment in education and training (3 credits)

Assessment
This qualification will be assessed by a combination of written assignments and micro-teaching practice. Assignments incorporate a range of theoretical, practical and reflective learning tasks.

Entry Requirements

Candidates are required to have evidence of Level 3 vocational skills and qualifications for the area in which they wish to teach/train. In addition, the nature of both the learning and assessment required for the qualification is such that candidates should have the ability to manage the requirements of the level of the qualification they are taking, read and interpret written tasks and write answers in a legible and understandable form. Candidates will also need to be able to organise and present written information clearly and coherently. All potential candidates are required to complete an initial assessment of their literacy skills and should possess a GCSE or equivalent qualification in English Language.
