This is a two year course is suitable for anyone who wishes to pursue a career as a professional chef. This qualification offers a balance of practical skills and classroom theory, it provides students with an opportunity to develop knowledge and understanding of the skills and competencies required to work effectively in the modern culinary environment. This course is based in industry as well as college and students will be supported to gain valuable experience within a commercial kitchen.
Assessment will take place through portfolio building as well a series of online tests; topics of study will include:
Safe, Hygienic and secure Working environments in Hospitality
This programme is the equivalent of 5 GCSE’s and will include study of GCSE English and Maths.
A personal training plan will be developed to detail your training pathway within the chosen vocational area.
Requirements are pre-defined by the College’s admissions criteria which are outlined at the beginning of this document. All applicants must attend a pre-entry guidance session.
This course is suited for those wishing to become a professional chef, you will gain knowledge and experience that will help you pursue career development as a Commis Chef or Chef de Partie. There are also opportunities to progress to Level 3 professional cookery programmes.
