Essential Skills

FREE Courses in ICT, English and Maths

Have you struggled with Maths or English or do you want to improve your computer skills? If this sounds like you, Belfast Met's Essential Skills courses in English, Maths or ICT are for you and best of all, they are FREE!

Classes are delivered at all main College campuses, as well as venues throughout the community and in the workplace through the day and in the evening. Classes in English and Maths are available from Entry Level through to Level 2 (achievement at Level 2 is comparable to GCSE standard).

Classes in ICT are available at Level 1 and Level 2 but for those of you who are less confident in this area you are sure to find something suitable through our ICT for Beginners (Steps 1 and 2) accredited programmes which will assist you in taking those first steps with emails, searching the Internet, creating documents in Microsoft Word and setting up spreadsheets.

All potential students must attend an advice and enrolment session where an experienced tutor will help you decide on the best course for you. Advice and enrolment sessions take place at the College's Millfield campus as listed below. So take the first step and come along to one of our sessions. We look forward to meeting you.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FAST-TRACK (Monday 10th - Friday 14th April, 9.00am - 5.30pm) - MILLFIELD

We would recommend that before you come to your initial assessment session that you refresh your skills in ICT. The bbc.co.uk/skillswise website provides exercises which you can use for practise. It is also recommended that you allow at least 2hours for the initial assessment process. To successfully enrol on the Fast Track it is necessary to be working comfortably at Level 2 and achieve L2 in the initial assessment.  To book in for Diagnostic Assessment please follow the relevant link:- LITERACY  click here  NUMERACY click here   ICT click here
