What employers say

A business women smiles while on the phone

Q. Is the College not just for academic provision and night classes?
  A. That may be many people's perception and with over 40,000 enrolments annually we are very proud of our record of academic excellence.

However we are much more than just a provider of qualifications.

We play a key role in ensuring that tomorrow's employees have the skills and competencies required for the future challenges that face the Northern Ireland economy.

We are also presently working with clients in a variety of sectors offering flexible business solutions such as the SMILE and Collaborate programmes.

Q. Does Belfast Metropolitan College understand the needs of business?
  A. Our Workforce and Economic Development Department works with key representative bodies including InvestNI, the Local Enterprise Network and Sector Skill Councils.

We use these relationships to identify skills gaps in the economy, areas for future growth and the key challenges to both large and small organisations.

Academic provision, student skills and our flexible training solutions are based on the highlighted needs of industry.

Q. Does the College have the ability to provide support to a business like mine?
  A. With over 1900 staff we can access a wide range of expertise in areas such as computing, languages, essential skills, management and technology.

Our commitment to the establishment of a 'state of the art' Workforce Development Centre at Springvale will see up to 200 students working in partnership with business at any one time.

Q. What are student/industry partnerships?
  A. Organisations going through growth or change can benefit from a variety of resources offered by Belfast Metropolitan College.

We work with employers on projects that aim to deliver key business results. These can include;

Recent College initiatives such as Collaborate clearly demonstrate the benefits to organisations that utilise student support and College facilities ably supported with academic expertise.

Q. When are these student partnership programmes available?
  A. We offer Business support programmes throughout the year. They can be short-term project work during traditional term time or they can be part of a Graduate Development programme that sees ex BMC graduates make the transition from education into the workplace.

All BMC students/graduates who embark on a partnership programme will have undertaken a period of pre - employment training aimed at equipping the individual with the skills to make a real difference to your business.
