Belfast Metropolitan College plays an active and leading role in projects and partnership programmes. Here are just a few examples of what has been happening:
Cultural Diversity Project 2004 The aims of this project were 4 fold. Firstly, to collect quantative and qualitative data in order to ascertain current trends within the field of cultural diversity. Secondly, to develop codes of good practice for staff and students as a result of this research and also to develop staff training and student induction as part of the Codes of Good Practice. Thirdly, to develop the Belfast Institute Website in order to facilitate information about the project and also to host staff training and student induction on the Institutes Blackboard site. Lastly to develop a drama production in order to highlight cultural diversity issues to a wider audience and to use within the Institute as an educational tool.
ICT Project - Focusing on MLE/VLEs This curriculum project brought together a number of practising educationalists to undertake a study into VLEs. The outcome has been highly commendable. The group made a valuable contribution to the FE. sector by reviewing a number of the VLEs platforms and exploring the wider organisational issues relating to their implementation.
