Catherine Loughran, 22, joined the Prince’s Trust Team Programme in May 2014. Having left school at 17, she did a few different courses but never really found anything that she was interested in.

After doing some research she found out about the Prince’s Trust Team Programme as she wanted to gain new qualifications, improve her social skills and increase her chances of finding a job.

Gary Brammeld Prince’s Trust Team Leader said “Catherine was really positive and enjoyed all the different parts of the course. She contributed in class and made lots of new friends. She was a real asset to the course and became a great success story. During the 12 weeks she took part in an outdoor pursuits residential, completed her work placement with Lighthouse a local charity providing support and help for people affected by suicide and bereaved families and also gained a Level 2 Essential Skills in Numeracy”.

After completing the course, Catherine started doing a Level 2 Introduction to Youth Work course through Youth Action based in Belfast. She has been successful in gaining part-time employment with the organisation and after completing her qualification she aims to do a degree in Youth Work at university and go on and work with kids from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Catherine said “I would totally recommend the course. It has helped me in so many ways and the staff are very encouraging and give help and support to ensure you achieve your aims and objectives. Give it a go and you will not regret it”.
