Ireland may have lost out on world cup qualification, but you can still get your “footie fix” through Maiden Voyage's dance world premier show celebrating the talent of Northern Ireland's football genius George Best in Tower Street Theatre. The Artistic Director of Maiden Voyage is Nicola Curry – a part-time dance lecturer at BMC.
A young lad from Belfast, George Best was the first true celebrity footballer and an unforgettable sporting legend whose skill and courage embodied for many the spirit of the 1960s. His style and grace on the pitch, which set him above his fellow players and helped him take the international football stage by storm, inspired Pele to describe him as “the best player in the world”. This dynamic and fast-paced piece of dance theatre from Maiden Voyage celebrates Best’s football genius and leads the audience through glimpses of his life, loves, lows and triumphs spanning a 40 year period. Choreographed by Andy Howitt with music by David Goodall inspired from across the decades. |
